As freethinkers, we have a dearth of holidays. One day which we might consider celebrating is each Friday the Thirteenth:
o As rationalists, we are not superstitious, are we?
o They are always on a Friday – a good time to to have a celebration!
o They are mathematical by nature, and mystical in origin.
o While cyclic, they appear to show up randomly, reflecting some aspects of reality.
We could do things that are ‘unlucky’, defying superstition, and, at the Cocktail Hour, say: “Thank organized labor for the five day work week, which ends today, preceding a two day vacation, as opposed to Genesis, which suggested a six yom workweek.”:
